The neuu Identity movements in the era of globalization and their impact on the public.

In the late decades of 20th century, and inspired by deep structural transformations in global level, the world faced with the formation and expansion of new kinds of movements, which are different from their former types. These movements, originated from new social and cultural formations, go beyond material and economic needs and class- based approaches and concentrate on identity appeals. The most important features of new identity movements accounted as: non-instrumental, civil society oriented, organizational flexibility, horizontal structure of relationships, network-centred communications, and media-based activities. Rise of these movements leads to new kind of politics, calledʹfidentity politicsMor "politics of identityMand also leads to the formation of new social and political forces and shaping of new ways for political and social mobilization. This article examines the influence of these new identity movements on public security. After conceptualization of public security and identity movements , and some theoretical views regarding formation of these movements, the article concludes that, the new identity movements influence deeply on the societal aspect of the security, and challenge the inclusive role of meaning-making of the states. These movements also have great impacts on public security by proliferation of political and social actors and by increasing capability of political and social mobilization. All these factors influence and challenge the traditional views and methods of security management.
