The World of Crises and Crisis Management.

Although Science and technology has developed, the human species are confronted with increasingly diverse and numerous natural and man-made disasters. These disasters have challenged authorities, policy-makers and all involved. Crises with their special features need special management. In this article, the first introductory chapter of the book "Coping with Crisis: the Management of Disasters, Riots and terrorism", we are acquainted with crisis, its features, sources of crisis recearch, definitions, crisis typology, crisis emergency, coping with crisis, and different phases of crises. This paper gives a scientific and logical thought towards crises especially for managers and authorities involved in crises such as those in the ministries of interior,health and other sectors.
