چكيده لاتين :
The review of the developmental path of the teacher training program in contemprory Iran is a significant subject as it can pave the way for any future improvements in the Iranian educational system. The 90-year history of teacher education is marred by difficulties and challenges brought about by many factors including the policy deficiencies followed by a number of authorities governing the program. One such challenge has been the steady drop in the number of applicants during the past 65 years. A major deficiency has been the lack of a positive attitude toward human capital and the training of human resources on the part of policy makers and planners. To lessen the difficulties it can be suggested that a single authority be established and put in charge of the program, teachers become full time, experimental schools created adjacent to teacher training centers, and the selection and placement of the applicants be made from among the natives.
