Philosophy of Education, as an academic discipline does not have that long of an history in Iran. Judging by the documents and testimonies of those involved in this area of study, it can be said that like any where else, the role of the professional associations in the development of the area is very crucial. In addition to the establishment of National Association of Educational Philosophy, the expansion of the graduate studies in this area and the subsequent increase in the number of graduates, along with the ever increasing number of their intellectual products, have helped with the improvement of this area of study. However, it seems that the Iranian educational philosophers have had the tendency to portray philosophy as something beneficial to teachers and students alike. In doing so, they have neglected their area of specialty and its bond with pure philosophy. It seems that they have to recognize themselves as authentic educational philosophers whose main goal is to develop and deepen philosophical issues within education rather than strictly focusing on the improvement of the educational quality.
