Bridging digital divide: Rethinking librarians and Information Professionalsʹ role in the third millennium

The present article, which is based on authorʹs viewpoint, deals with some dimensions of digital divide relating to libraries and librariansʹ services as well as responsibility. Also, it emphasizes that information sector in which librarians and information professionals play considerable roles to achieve democratic and dynamic society can fill or at least, can diminish digital divide and information divide. That is why, in order to support the main idea of this article, relevant existing literature has been reviewed and finally, skills needed by librarians and also, two-folded recommendations for information sector professionals as well as policy-makers have been addressed.
