Seroepidemiological study on human hydatidosis in Varamin area with ELISA technique

Hydatidosis and echinococcosis are prevalent in carnivores, herbivores and human all over the country. The economic losses in live-stock as well as health problem in human due to this parasite is considerable. ELISA method was performed to evaluate serologic status of the study group. Human sera from different areas of the Varamin province were collected by random sampling and transferred to Tehran then ELISA test were performed on them. Among 700 human sera, 39 cases showed Sero- positivity by E.L.I.S.A test (%5.57 positive rate). Total infection rate in males were %5.55 and in females %5.57. In the rural population the infection rate were higher than in semi-urban and urban areas. In rural area infection rate was %13.5 in males, and %18.42 in females. In semi urban area, Tthey wore %8.7 in males, %7.69 in females, and in urban area %0.96 in males and %1.61 in females. We hope our data will be useful for government authorities for the control measures against echinococcusis in Varamin area.
