Though those who have been actively involved in the automotive industry in Iran have made a tremendous effort, particularly in the recent years, the transfer of technology did not take place as effectively as it is expected in such cases. The fast growing changes of the world, it would soon or late cause this industry in Iran to face a multitude. Thus, it is quite necessary that the directors of this industry take the initiatives to, first, diagnose the barriers of effective technology transfer in Iranian auto. Industry, then, present a model that can provide the conditions for the industry to be able to enter gradually the competitive markets.
Therefore, this research, based on some theoretical and field studies, succeeded to identify the impediments and the components of the effective transfer of technology, that in turn, resulted in the formation of a conceptual model of an effective technology transfer is worth noticing that the efficacy of the suggested model depends on how much the industry is ready for such a transfer. Thus, in order to identify the necessary indices of measuring the level of the industry readiness, its core concept as well as its constructing components were abstracted and given as questionnaires to a number of experts in this field inside and outside of Iran. The obtained data were worked out by a Concept Mapping method, and analyzed by the software called Concept System and Lisrel. Then, the most important criteria in order to measure the abilities of the automotive industry in an effective technology transfer and also, an index to measure the importance of each criterion which were taken from the subsets of the indices of the same criterion were obtained. Finally, having determined the criteria and the indices, the final finding of the study, that is, the model of measuring the readiness of the automotive industry for an effective technology transfer was advanced, which was the major achievement of this research.
