The Historical and Geopolitical Analysis ofIran-Egypt Relations from the World War II until the Islamic Revolution ofIran

Analyzing relations between countries is of great importance in the field of international relations. These studies aim to recognize the different role-players in a given political relationship through various methods and different perspectives. Geopolitical and historic research is one of these methods, which seeks to understand the decision-making logic of governments within the international arena. Iran and Egypt are considered to be two regional powers in the Middle East. The significance of these two countries stems from Iranʹs unmatched role in the Persian Gulf, Central Asia and the Caucuses, and Egyptʹs important leeway within the Arab world and North Africa. However, the relations between Iran and Egypt during the zo" century have resembled a roller coaster due to issues dominating the international arena as a whole. The present research shows that the nature of the two countriesʹ political regimes has had a significant effect on the two powersʹ regional relationship. The regional issues and political competitiveness, as well as the structure of the international regimesystem have also affected this relationship throughout the 20th century.
