Tehranʹs Citizensʹ Knowledge of Citizenship Rights and Duties

One of the main influential elements in development and promotion of a society is the degree of knowledge of its citizens and generally social knowledge of its people. In mega cities like Tehran with high populated areas and lots of social interactions, the awareness of citizens can create suitable situations for social planning. This article is studies the rate of citizensʹ awareness of their rights and duties. Discussing the citizenship theory and background according to Parsonsʹ Model, the rights and duties of citizens has been studied in four economic, political, social and cultural dimensions.ln this survey 676 Tehrani above 16 year old participated. According to the findings of the survey the degree of knowledge of citizens in cultural matters is 77.81%, in economic matters is 64.64% and in social area is 63.71%. The lowest knowledge of citizen is in poliiical matters which is 55.09%.
