The Viewpoints of Paramedics Employed in Golestan Province towards Continuing Education Programs

Introduction: Retraining is an important wayfor professional development ofhealth staffand keeping r/1(!JJ/ up to date, and evaluation is one (~r the essential principles [or enhancing th.: ejlidellcy o{ these trainings. The aim ofthis S!lU(V lVQS to determine the viewpoints ofparamedics employed in Golestan province towards continuing education programs. Methods: In this descriptive study, 274 samples were selected aut or Iii I 6 paramedics emploved ill clinics or the province. through systematic random sampling. The data gathering tool was u questionnaire. Data \IʹUS analyzed by SfʹSS software using descriptive statistirs, Chiʹ, and independent Tstest. Results: Among the participants, 26.2f!1J, 41.8°0, 25.5:~ and 6.5% had \ʹeI~lʹ weak, weak, average, and desirable viewpoint towards the courses, respectivelv. As the motivation [or participating in the courses, 55.5~o mentioned achieving points torjob promotion opportunities, 21.2% resorting and reviewing former information, J3,N% f:xchanging information and experiences with other colleagues. and 9.5~ʹ{, mentioned seeking solutionsfor their professional problems. Thirty one percent reported lack ofequity andiairness in participating in the programs on behalioftheir direct administrator and 33.9% staled that the planningtor participation in these courses Itʹas notfavorable. Conclusion: Participants had a weak or Iʹcry weak viewpoint toward programs and regarded their motivation for participation in these programs as achieving points for job promotion. It is necessary for adn.inistrators to plan for changing the staftʹs viewpoint toward participation in continuiI1g education programs
