The Attitude of Residents, Interns and Clerkship Students towards Teaching Role of Residents

Introduction: Appropriate and effective education for medical students is criticallv important ill promoting and maintaining societyʹs health and the role ofresidents is nndeniablc ill medical studentsʹ education. The aim of this study was to determine the attitude of clerkship students. intern..; and residents towards th« teaching role ofresidents in Sari Medical Sd100/ in 2(}()7. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional studv. the statistical population included 0/1 clerkship snulcnts, interns, and residents (11=250) in all wards havinv residents ill medical school ofMazand.iran Universitv u( Medical Sciences in 2U07. [ising census sampling method. 19_1 persons Hʹere investigated. The data gathering tool HʹaS a questionnaire including 4 demographic and :0 attitude items. The datn \Iʹas analvzcd bv 5ʹP,)ʹ.software using descriptive statistics, Chi", and ANOVA. Results: Among respondents, 47%, 39% and 13% }I"ere clerkship students, interns, and residents, respectivelv. The participantsʹ attitudes were dissimilar in diffcren: clinical departments. The most positiv« attitude belonged to psychiatry department (70% with positive attitude) and after thin in pediatrics, gvnccotog», internal medicine, and surgery departments, 50~ʹO or less had a positive attitude. The attitude of residents Ira.\ʹ much more positive than thai otclerkship students and interns. So that, 23% otclerkship students. 38ʹ!u of interns, and 58% or residents had a positive attitude and Hone otʹ the residents had a negative attitude toward their OHʹn education.
