The 9/h presidential elec tion in Iran was a turning point in the rol e of
television in electoral camp aigns. It seems that talk shows, the candidates ʹ
campaign videos, and TV debates among political figures advocating the
candidates had a key role in the viewers ʹ op inions towards the candidates.
and in their final decision. Employing the results of a number of studies
including the qualitative interviews with people by the auth or in the months
following the victory ofpresident Ahmadinejad, the present article dis cusses
the role ofiRIB in the individualsʹ final vote.
The research finding show thai television, at least in the 9Jh presidential
election, was important reference ofpeople for knowing candidates
