The Comparison of Social Skills among the Girls & Boys with Down Syndrome

The goal of this present study was to compare the social skills of the girls and boys with Down -syndrome. This study was conducted at special schools of Tehran and the subjects in this study were 7 to 12 years old. To choose samples. random cluster sampling method was used. 129 children with Down syndrome (58girls & 71boys) were chosen and questionnaires were given to their mothers. In this study for assessing the account of social skills and behavior problems, Gresham & Elliot social skills rating system questionnaire was used. For analysis of the data, t-test was used and the results were as the followings: There is a significant difference between the scales of cooperation, decisiveness. self-control, extraversion and hyperactivity. There is no significant difference between girls and boys in introversion scale.
