A Comparison of Varieties of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Irrigated at Different Levels ofIrrigation in Firoozabad Region of Fars Province

In order to study theeffectofdifferent irrigation levels onyieldand yieldcomponents of three wheat cultivars, a field experiment was conducted ill Fircozabad , Pars in 2003-2004 growing season.The experiment design wasa split-plotone arranged ill randomized complete block of four replicmiom•. Main plotsconsisted of four irrigation levels ( I \= every 8, [ l=ʹ [2 I J= 16, and [ ,= every 20 days) subplots consisted of three wheat cultivars (VI= Marvdasht , V2=Star, and VJ=Darab-2 ). The results showed that Darab-2 with a nigher number of grain per spike, and 1000 grain weight, produced higher drymatter as well as higher grain yield. Also, this cultivar exhibited a higher CGRthanthe othertwo cuhivars. Ina comparison between Marvdasht andStarcultivars, it was determined that Marvdasht was superior in a majority of traits, It was determined that the number of grain per spike as well us IOOO-grain weight were more sensitive to limited irrigation than the number of spikes per square meter trait. Physiological growth indices decreased with increasing irrigation intervals. Interaction of cultivar II irrigation interval!". showed that Darab-J wassuperior at all irrigation levels and produced a nigher grain yieldthanthe othertwo. In total, it seems that Uarah-2 is more tolerant to limited irrigation: it has a higher grain yield, and can be introduced as tolerant cultivar
