چكيده لاتين :
Se vera l lines of e vidence hav e re ported that mouse ESCs can success fully differentiate into primordi al germ
cells (PGCs) as well as into mature male and female gametes. Human ESCs and adult stem cells (ASCs) can
also di fferentiate int o PGCs. Differentiation of ESCs int o germ cells of vario us s tages seems to be a
spontaneo us and quick process , probably due to the nature of ESCs themselves and the microenvironment of
the culture co nditions that favor this proce ss . Alth ough the fun cti onality o f these ESC>d erived gametes
remains to be es tablished. deri vation of both male and fem ale gametes from ESCs raises the pos sibility of
usin g these game tes to gain a better under standing of basic reprodu cti ve bi ology and. in parti cul ar , in
conjuncti on with nuclear tran sfer technology, to extend the po tential for therapeut ic c loning and the
treatment or infertility
