چكيده لاتين :
One of the moin reasons for studentsʹ dissatisfaction with their exom scores in
translation programs is related to the way their tronslotions ore evaluoted.
A/though translation courses hove been tought For several years in franian
universities (both Islamic Azed universities and Stote universifies), olmost no
organized study has been done on the type of tests and the criteria used 10 assess
studentsʹ tronslations. The present study set out fa survey the way frans/otion
instructors evaluate studentsʹ translations. Participants were solicited for their fest
method preferences and the criteria they used to assess studentsʹ translations. To
achieve the ob;ecfives of ʹhe study, a 22·item questionnaire was administered to
36 male and female translation instructors who have taught translation courses in
9 different Ironion universities. Results of the dolo analysis indicated thot there is
agreement among translation instructors in assessing studentsʹ trans/aNom. Almost
all of the instructors preFerred to use essay-type questions in translation exams.
They also indicated ʹhat they paid affention to the grammatical points, word
equivalence, genre, register, and shifts to assess studentsʹ translations. The findings
of this study may be useFul to the students majoring in transfation as well as
trans/arion instructors. Students will certainly improve their translations if they are
aware of the criteria used fa evaluate their translation. Translation instructors who
do not have much experience in teaching or testing translation courses can also
use the Findings of the study to improve their tasks
