The Iranian nuclear program - without being deserved by its very
nature - has appeared to be one 01ʹ the most controversial issues of the
world media and international talks and discussions. As a result, analysts
from the North and the South appear to be partitioned into advocate and
opposing parties. Why is it so?
The paper reviews the chronology of the major Iranian nuclear
events of the past half-century and will show that, beyond the intention of
the Iranian officials in the post-Revolutionary Iran, it is the Iranian
geopolitical position, and the harsh tones and the rhetoric emanating from
the official circles in the United States and Iran that has paved the way for
further complicate the issue and trigger suspicion and over-sensitivity of
thc Western powers toward the Iranian nuclear program to the point of
attempts at nullifying it.
This historical rummage may provide us with the hint that, beyond
the quality of a political regime. the clements of continuity and
consistency in the nuclear policymaking arena have existed and, at the
same time, a strong national consensus has been shaped around the
subject one which may 110t exist in many other areas. Apart from this,
because the US Government has hcen the engine of spreading suspicion
against the Iranian nuclear program, thus, logically, the solution should
have something to do with fighting back the same cause by employing
various measures at our disposal, including negotiation and confidence
building measures.
As it is said in Islamic philosophy, the final cause of a phenomenon
could not be but its efficient cause.
