Tibetan religions could be divided into four categories: The Pre-Buddhist Religion, Buddhism, Bon, and The Popular Religion. The Pre-Buddhist Religion mainly focuses on the worship of the kings; beside that, devotion of sacred mountain and natural gods are the other important features of this religion. Tibetan Buddhism developed in the wake of Vajrayana Buddhism. This school of Buddhism is full ofTantric rites and ideas. Based on these teachings, several Buddhist Orders came to exist; which, each of them have their own temple.
The third religion of Tibet which surveyed in this article is Bon. The priests of this religion -Bon pos- claims that Bon is the continuation of the Pre-Buddhist Religion, but there is no historical evidence for this assertion. In fact, Bon is syncretization of Buddhist teachings and the Pre- Buddhist ideas, moreover there are some Iranian elements in this religion. The Popular Religion is a term that only signifies that it is nonmonastic, traditional, and related to the concerns of laypeople. This religion is a mixture of the other Tibetan religions. Every year Tibetans perform especial rituals in order to mitigate, the mechanism of the law of moral causality (karman). They also devote local gods and sacred Buddhist persons.
