The separation of acid gases such as C02, H2S, COS and CS2 from mixtures with other gases is a process of substantial industrial importance. Natural gas and gases with petroleum, synthesis gas and refineries gases are typical gas currents. The most well-established method for C02 capture is to remove C02 by absorption in amine solutions. Amines are weak basic compounds which react with C02 to form weak chemical bounds. These chemical bounds are easily broken upon mild heating, leading to regeneration. Traditional primary and secondary alkanolamines have high CO, absorption rate. But, because of the high heat of reaction associated with carbonate formation, high regeneration energy costs are incurred. A tertiary alkanolamine has a lower C02 absorption rate, but since the heat of reaction associated with bicarbonate and carbonate formation is much lower, regeneration energy costs are lower too. Primary and secondary amines and other compounds as additives are mixed with tertiary amines to maximize the advantages of each amine. This subject is the title of new researches about C02 absorption. In this paper, we studied the above matter and various C02 absorption procedures.
