This research was designed and conducted to investigate student adolescentsʹ hierarchy of
value system in various child-rearing styles. 249 students ( 129 females and 120 males) were
selected through random multi-stage cluster method. The subjects responded to Value and
Child-Rearing Questionnaires. The fina l analysis of scores obtained by Freedman

subj ects who classifled their parentsʹ child-rearing style as responsive, permissive, or
authoritative. Yet, no significant difference was indicated (or the subjec ts with the
disorganized style class ification. The hierarchy of value system tor the subjects in the
responsive category was in the following order: national, socia l, family, religious, scienti fic,
individual, financial, artistic, political, and universal. For the subjects classitying their
parentsʹ style as permissive. the hierarchy was as follow: socia l. national, family, scientific,
religious, individual, artistic, financial. political, and universal; finally lor the authoritative

political, universal, and artist ic, The interesting point were the superior ranking of national,
family, social. and religious values and conversely the inferior placement of political and
universal in all child-rearing styles (except in the disorganized). Kruskal-Wallis test
