A Review on Synthesis and Properties of Polyurethane-Clay Nanocomposites

Polyurethane is one of the most versatile engineering elastomers, which has unique mechanical and abrasion resistance, flexibility in low temperature, high hardness and tenacity. Silicate layers dispersed in polymer matrix in nano-scale, enhance the properties of polyurethane-clay nanocomposites in comparison with pristine polyurethane. In this paper, recent trends on morphology, nanostructure as well as improvement of mechanical and thermal properties, abrasion and corrosion resistance of polyurethane/clay nanocomposites have been reviewed.
