Thermosyphon is a form of heat pipe which does not hold a wick. Thermosyphon can transfer considerable amount of heat over a substantial distance with an exceedingly small amount of temperature drop. Two-phase thermosyphon is employed in a wide range of industrial applications such as solar system and heat exchangers. Even though a lot of experimental works have been done in this field, however no research has been conducted on the feasibility of modeling the process with the Matlab Software. Therefore, it is the aim of this research to model a two- phase closed thermosyphon in a two dimensional case and transient state. In this work a model has been adopted to analyze the two-phase thermosyphon behavior filled with water in a critical state and compare the numerical results to the experimental works. This study has been carried out in a transient state for a water filled thermosyphon by considering heat transfer at the wall and the falling film condensate. The foremost distinction of this work is that the variation of thickness of falling film condensate with time has never been considered by other workers.
