Petroleum coke is one of the productions of crude oil refining. Delay coking is one of the important processes for converting the oil residues to useful productions. In this process, heavy residues of the vacuum column are introduced to the furnace and are heated up to 480. Outlet of the furnace is sent to the coking columns at 460-490 temperature and 350 psig pressure. Cracking proccss is occurred in these columns. The light products are extracted from up and the coke is extracted from the bottom of column. The coking temperature, yield, sulfur and ash content depend to the feed. In this article, feasibility of coke production from residues of vacuum distillation column of Tabriz Petrochemical Company using experimental methods is investigated. In this study, two kinds (C.F.O and SMTAR) of residues are used as the feed. Yield of coke production from C.F.O is shown to be higher than SMTAR. Produced coke from C.F.O is more desirable than the other. Finally, some of the physical properties of the produced coke are compared to the foreign samples.
