Examination of Parentʹs Attitude Towards Peers Relationship Among Teenagers

The purpose of this study was to examine parentsʹ attitude towards peer relationship among teenagers. The sample included 300 couples who were selected through cluster sampling in two urban zones. Data was collected using girl and boys scale for peer relationship and analysed with one sample t-test and Manova analysis. The results showed that Isfahanian parents have negative attitude towards girls and boys who have boyfriend or girlfriend. Manova analysis, after control for demographic variables, showed that there is no significant differences between mothers and fathers on this kind of attitude. Religion significantly predicted attitude towards these relationships. Therefore, more religious parents were more likely to show negative attitudes towards these relationships.
