General health and social support in two groups of elders living in nursing homes and with families

Comparing general health and social support between 2 groups of elders, living with their families and based in nursing homes (50 elders) was the objective of the study. General health questionnaire (GHQ) and Philips social support test were applied to collect the data. This research is "causal - comparative researeh" using multiple factor variance analysis (MANOVA) with Tukey follow-up. It was found that there is a significant difference between general health and its components of corporeal indication, anxiety, and disorder in social function, depression, and social support of groups. For testing difference between genders on two variables, a 2x2 ANOVA was utilizated and results showed no significant diffcrcnce between genders based on social support test.
