Analytical Report of the Researches Conducted in Sociology of Literature

Opening a new way in a scientific discipline requires meticulous and comprehensive description, analysis and critique of all that has been done in that field. Without a comprehensive and critical look at the heritage of the past, one can have no hope for the future. This, on the one hand, distinguishes differing approaches and oil die other hand, differentiates creative works from the baseless and repeated ones; it also opens new research perspectives to those interested. Hence, the present study introduces the various approaches within the field of sociology of literature and criticizes them. To this end, all the researches carried out within the last forty years under the rubric of sociology are classified into five main approaches. After the introduction of each approach, a number of instances of the top quality researches in that field are discussed in brief; this is followed by the bibliography of that field. A rather comprehensive bibliography is presented at the end.
