چكيده لاتين :
Higher education, due to its role in educating experts and producing knowledge is important in expediting and facilitating the development process in various countries. The role of evaluation of quality in higher education is undeniable in the different stage of the implementation of university development plan. National and international experiences show that internal evaluation process, especially at the academic departmental level, is an effective mechanism for the universityʹs quality assurance process.
This study is aimed to: 1) determine the quality of the components of Department of Chemical Medicine, and 2) determine itʹs strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats in order to improve the quality of its activities.
In this evaluation, nine important factors are taken into account. These include: 1-missions statement and goals; 2-management and organizational structure; 3-faculty members;
4-students; 5-training and learning process; 6- courses and curricula; 7-graduates; 8-educational and research facilities and equipments; 9-research activities.
In This study, 61 criteria and 172 indicators were used. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and SPSS software tools. The scores obtained were as follows:
Missions statement and goals 2.15; management and organizational structure 2.81; faculty board members 3.33; students 2.98; training and learning process 2.39; educational course and curriculum 3.51; graduates 3.22; educational and research facilities and equipments 3.51; and research 2.54
The results indicate that the Department of Chemical Medicine enjoys a rather good condition. The importance of this evaluation is that it sets the ground for further evaluations through comparing the department with peer departments at international universities.
