Islamic Revolution of Iran and Lebanese Shias (A Historical-Comparative Perspective)

The Islamic Revolution of Iran has had several impacts on the regional and international levels. The analysts have enumerated at least four main impacts: palpable and outstanding impact, consolidation and acceleration of the pace of Islamic political trends, reviving political Islamic ideology and thought, and preparing the grounds for some of the governments to suppress the opposition Islamic movements. Among the regional countries, Lebanon is the most suitable place for acceptance of revolutionary ideas. Despite the existence of several tribes in the complicated Lebanese society, every tribe in order to expert its influence needs tribal essential power as well as the support of one foreign power. The Shia in Lebanon during the course of history had never enjoyed the said factors to exercise power in Lebanon. Despite the efforts of Imam Musa Sadr to provide the Shias with the instruments of power, such problems as civil war and his disappearance caused a shortcoming among the Shias in their efforts to gain power.
