The Villages under study here belong to Saman county of Shahr-e Kord city, in Chahar-Mahal & Bakhtiari province, Iran. Space differentiation, or
surfacing, is a necessary step to be taken in order to reach a reality-based comprehensive, systematic, and applied result in tourism planning. Thus, to systematize tourism of Saman county, we have divided the county into three macro, meso, and micro systems seen as necessary levels for planning. Such triad division is based on Zayandeh Roodʹs (river) basin, and its main and auxiliary sources. Thus the entire Saman terrain constitutes a macro tourism system. In other words, these meso-systems which conform to borders of basin and topographic factors are outstanding natural elements which are considered to constitute the most appropriate limits for planning tourism industry in that they provide scientific and applied basis for organizing tourism activity. For example, the identification of attractive spots provides the basis for planning of tourism. To identify the status and role of each spot within the meso-systems, a method should be used to represents both the capacity and relative priority status of the spot within the macro system. To this end we have designed 25 indices to assess the natural, ecological, and cultural capacities, and the way the services can be best provided. The aforesaid method provides a basis for much needed standardization of tourist locales. It also facilitates provision of relations and communications among the triad levels. The method culminates in providing a score for ranking of the spots, or locales. The details for calculating optimal scores are discussed in the article.
