Sociological Expression of Feeling of Security among Residents of Tehran (Emphasizing media attention and social capital)

The present study has been conducted to survey effective variables on feeling of security in Tehran. The variables which are proposed in this research include family and individual factors, committed crime rates, exposure to police functions and media attention. The theoretical framework of the research in accord with its topic uses the vulnerability approach in relation to experiencing crime and feeling of security. Thus relevant literatures have been utilized and research theories extracted according to this base. A model for the research has been designed. Research questions and theories have been compiled. Data gathering technique here has been the questionnaire, and the statistical society includes residents above 18 years of age in Tehran, among whom 778 were chosen to be interviewed according to cluster sampling. For reliability, Cronbakh Alpha Test and for validity, known group techniques are used. The SPSS and EQS models are used for data analysis. The following are the main findings: There are different feelings of insecurity depending on gender, place of residence, marital status, age of the respondents. There is a significant relationship between the rate of insecurity feeling and the variables of committed crime rates and the media attention.
