Biostratigraphicandgeochmical correlation of middlecetaceous sediments in Izeh regions (khuzestan province)

this essay,microbiostratigraphy and microfacies studies of midlle Cretaceous sediments to apply in stratigraphic correla­tion and chemical method which is based on the determination of major and trace elements in carbonate phases. The Variations and oscillation of these elements in stratigraphic correlation is a fundamental confirmation to the results of for­mation environment of microfacies. After exact study of available microfossile in this section, results of chemical analysis were applied in the interpretation of sedimentary environment. Therefore, the formations dating was based on the biostratigraphy of microfossils and their stratigraphic distribution. The study of microfacies based on Folk, Dunham and Wilson method of classification plus chemical method produced a more accurate stratigraphic correlation and useful Paleogeography. Meanwhile, the association of foraminifers fauna in stati- graphic section was allowed to divide Cenomanian stage to three parts(lower, middle and upper).
