Mirza Ahmad Khan Darya Beygiʹs Role in the Political Developments ofthe Persian Gulf

Mirza Ahmad Kan used to rule over southern ports of Iran from 1271 up to the early times of the First World War. He always preferred to govern southern ports due to their distance from the central government. Moreover, he could impose his total ruling over local people extracting their properties and simultaneously pretending that he served them. On the eve of the Constitutional Revolution, he joined the opposition while backing up the English plots and interests. Over the outbreak ofwar of brave Bushehris and Tangestanis against Britain, he favored the latter. Upon the occupation of Basrah, he opposed Raiis Ali Delvary while setting the stage for the banishment of Ayatollah Ahrorni. The school of Saadat, Amirieh bu.ilding and Darya Beygiʹs building came to existence during his ruling on Bushehr.
