The Study of Wind Energy in Sistan Region for the Purpose of Producing Wind Electricity

Sistan winds are the most famous local winds in Iran, which blow in large areas of the East from mid-May to mid-September. The spatial and temporal dispersion as well as the speed of Sistan wind experience a great variqbility . Zabol station has the longest and the fastest winds. In fact, strong winds begin from February in this region and continue to November. In this research, we first applied the three-hour statistics of windspeed in synoptic stations of Sistan and Baluchestan, South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan and Kerman provinces. Then based on the findings, the spatial and temporal range of wind in Sistan region and also the daily and annual windspeed variability in this region were studied. It was found that Zabol station was the central core of Sistan wind and parts of the Sistan and Baluchestan, South Khorasan, Razavi Khorasan and Kerman provinces have the same wind regime as Zabol.
