The Religious Future of the World from Sociological Point of view

Anticipating the future of the world has always been humanʹs concern. Now that the world is undergoing fast and widespread developments in various areas of human life, and a great revolution has occurred in communications and transactions leading to globalization, the attempt to anticipate the future has considerably increased. In this article, first the individualʹs identity status in the modern world and the religionʹs condition from sociologistsʹ point of view have been discussed and the existing evidence indicate that an increase in cultural awareness of the world, resulted from the development of communications and transactions, has prepared the ground for a rational choice. In this context, the religion with a rational nature would have the opportunity to present itself in the world. On this account, the statistics on the individualsʹ leaning towards Islam in the various parts of the world as well as some parameters of the universality of Islam which accelerates this phenomenon are mentioned here.
