■ Quantitative Determination of Saturate, Aromatic, Hydrocarbons and Polar (Resins and Asphaltene) Fractions of Different Cuts of Crude Oils

These days quantitative determination of different fractions of crude oils are not only valuable for data bank preparation, but also useful for crude oil classification and characterization of different cuts of oils. So, different analytical methods and tests have been developed for this purpose. In this work, samples from gasoline, kerosene, gasoil, motoroil, and 500°C+ cuts of oil were subjected to liquid column chromatogeraphy technique by using n-hexane, dichloromethane, and methanol as eluant solvents, and aluminium oxide and silicagel as adsorbants. Acceptable results are obtained regarding precision and repeatability of this technique; the standard deviations of kerosene, gasoline, motoroil, and heavy cuts of oil are 0.2, 0.42, 0.59, and 1.5 respectivly. The standard de­viation for gasoline cut is over 80% which, by considering its low boiling point, can be acceptable.
