Unity from Platoʹs Viewpoint and That of Muslim Mystics with a Stress on Sadr al-Din Qunaviʹs Views

The unity or the multiplicity of the nature has always been attended to by thinkers, who have put in a great deal of efforts to explain it. Plato has defended the theory of natureʹs unity; and among Muslim thinkers, mention may be made of Muslim mystics, especially Sadr al-Din Qunavi, who have presented a clear explanation for unity. This paper aims at finding evidences for consistency of these two Unitarian systems, i.e. Platonic philosophy and mysticism. Plato, like Muslim mystics, believes that "He" is above any designation and is present, due to His infinity and encompassing distinction, in all things and at the same time beyond them. The existence is multiple while unique, and the multiplicities are the shades or manifestations of Truth. The Platonic and mystic unity must not be mixed up with pantheism. This paper deals with this subject through a theoretical and documentary approach.
