Islam and Globalization; Interaction or Encounter

The paper aims primarily at investigating the relationship between globalization process and the globalization of Islam, trying to answer the question of whether the relationship between Islam and globalization is an interaction or an opposition. If this phenomenon is in opposition to Islamic culture, which strategies can Muslims make use of in confronting with the process of globalization? The writer uses a theoretical and documentary approach in analyzing the data and reviewing the research findings to answer the above questions, concluding that the nature of globalization (making global) is not the same as universalism (become universal). To clearly define this phenomenon, all its aspects, and related factors and consequences should be considered. Globalization, in view of its nature, goals, features and consequences, is in contrast to Islamic teachings. At the end of this article, some methods have been proposed for Islamic world to get out of the challenges of this process.
