Kierkegaard, the Christian philosopher and thinker well-known as the founder of the modern existentialism, explains, in his exploration of existence where he deals with humanʹs philosophical "anguish", the notion of the sin as a parameter emerging along with anguish. He believes that anguish is not the origin and the reason for committing sins, for man is anguished not because of his sinfulness, but because of his humanity. This anguish, however, always remains with him. Kierkegaard also believes that anguish is a hidden phenomenon, revealing itself only when exposed to some factors such as sins. This study, with a theoretical and exploratory approach to Kierkegaardʹs works, aims at explaining the special meaning of sins in his philosophy as a Christian philosopher, as well as explaining the issue of anguish in the context of sin and sinfulness.
