Reputable and Unknown Names in History; A Contrastive Study of Amir Kabirʹs Reforms and Sepehsalarʹs Reforms

People throughout history have admired the reformists who have contributed to cultural changes. Now, why does history raise some reformists and ignore others? This article seeks to introduce the reader to two Iranian reformists who contributed to the cultural reforms in Iran; they are Amir Kabir and Sepehsalar. The reasons for the constancy of Amir Kabirʹs reforms and their effects and the reasons of the inconstancy of Sepehsalarʹs reforms are dealt with in this discussion. The everlastingness of Amir Kabirʹs reforms can be ascribed to their consistency with the genuine religious beliefs and culture of the people in Iran. Concerning the reason of the inconstancy of Sepehsalarʹs reforms and peopleʹs unfamiliarity with his name, Sepehsalarʹs reforms lacked originality; they were inspired from foreign cultures and so were inconsistent with the religious and social values of the people in Iran.
