Delibfration of quantity and quality effects of Shahid Rajai Dam in the Sari aquifer

Sari plain is a portion of watershed of Tajan and Nekaroud rivers where has located 9 in the Mazandaran Province with 975 Km area. To optimize the Tajan river, Rajaei Dam was constructed at the location of Solaiman - Tange hydrometry station and was exploited at year 1998. Fluctuations of groundwater level on the different location of the plain was compared during years of 1990 - 1991 to 1999 - 2000. Results have shown a groundwater level increase in the western part of the plain, but the groundwater level has fallen in the east of the plain and who ever the Tajan irrigation network hasnʹt extension. Deliberaton of difference between groundwater CI" concentration before and after construction of Rajaei Dam also confirm the relative improvement of groundwater quality at the western section and a partial decrease of groundwater quality in the eastern section of the plain. Groundwater lever fluctuations and Clʹconcentration changes befor and after construction of the Rajaei Dam illustrate the effect of the irrigation network in the quality and quantity improvement of the aquifer.
