Prominent Cultural Values in the Persian Proverbs and Idioms

The purpose of this paper is to study, within the framework of cultural studies, the cultural values to be found in the Persian idioms and proverbs. The study is based on the conviction that the study of Persian proverbs and idioms, though most of them are not used today, reveal the cultural characteristics of the Iranian society and the Iranian nation. The research method used is quantitative, and the data collected is based on content analysis. The results show that the proverbs and idioms contain advice on three main issues: acquiring wisdom, being ethical and studious.
