An assessment of bodily society and its implications with especial reference to Iranian society

Following an analytic-descriptive approach and using a library method, this article seeks to explain the importance of body in consumption culture, womenʹs getting distance from natural body so as to attain a social body through using make-up styles in a public sphere. It studies reflective aspect of womenʹs bodily identity, its showy functions and its distinguishing role with the help of consumption cultural concepts, sexuality regime and bodily capital and the assistance of Gindz and Bourdeoʹs theories. It studies the subject matter just as social harm for such a practice is against cultural norms dominant in Iranian society; norms that are derived from Islamic principles. According to the findings of this study, the present state of affairs of women in dressings and make-ups is under the influence of Western consumption culture and secularization of social life.
