After determination of characteristic and required parameter in study phases, the design and proper location of various parts of dams would be done. But due to uncertainty in damʹs abutments, foundation and barrow material, review and modifications in designs must be done. In this point, at the UPPER Gotvand dam site, one stage blasting test and field compaction test (F.C.T.), using blasted Rock fill materials have been done.
This dam, in 30 kilometer western north of Shushtar city on the Karun River in Iran country is constructing. Require Rockfill material for dam body preparing from necessary excavation of dam, mainly from Spillway excavations in Conglomerate rock of Bakhtiari Formation. Three trial embankments in various thicknesses such as 80, 100 and 120 centimeter, whit 4 layers, using dry and wet methods, once under water jet have been tested. In these embankments, leveling test for settlement measuring, density test, degradation and field permeability test have been done. This investigation detected that phases of execution have prime effect on crushing of rockfill material, degradation and rockfill density of embankment and on the other word on material compaction. Unsuitable execution causes segregation in material component and reducing density and permeability. The other result of this test is prime effect of water jet on rockfill material quality. According to this investigation, method statement of embankment as simultaneously progressive dumping and leveling method (damping to edge of band and leveling with bulldozer) and layer with 100 centimeter thickness and 6 stage passing dram roller using water jet is the best method.
