Development Trend in Womanʹs Higher Education in Esfahan

The purpose of this articale is to survey the trend of changes in womenʹs higher education in public universities and their partivipation in labor force in Esfahan during 1992 - 2002. In this study, the following issues: analyzed the womenʹs social demand for higher education, the gender structure of womenʹs higher education and their fields of study, womenʹs participation in labor force, women achievement in managerial jobs, and the relationship between womenʹs higher education and their access to professional jobs. This survey was conducted by a descriptive-analytical approach. The sample used was suited statistical society. The results showed that the trend of womenʹs participation in higher education was very significant. Although women were presented at all levels of higher education, their presence was very outstanding in technincal engineering (from % 10.74 in 1992-1993 to %40.95 in 2001-2002) In agricultural fields their rate increased from %2.6 to %51.95 in the same period. Although womenʹs participation in higher education was very significant, their presence in labor force and managerial responsibilities were not so outstanding. The rate of womenʹs participation in labour force had a negative growth (%-2.24) per year. Only %2.3 of supervisory and %28.2 of specialized jobs were occupied by educated women in the public administration.
