1. Performance Measures in Private Insurance Companies using Balanced Scorecard considering Expertise Opinion

Insurance companies like other companies, should have a strong and successful performance in achieving their missions, goals and strategies. Thus, it is important for managers and organizations to have a pattern of performance evaluation and be aware of the extent to which the organizationʹs performance has achieved and also be aware of the position of the organization in this dynamic and complex environment; therefore, this study looks for identifying the performance indicators and measures of private insurance companies in order to offer a pattern of performance evaluation. It is based on Balanced Score card (BSC) and identifies the most important performance indicators and measures in four areas of financial, market and customer satisfaction, internal processes and innovation and improvement, through document survey and interviewing with experts and managers in insurance companies. Overall, this study has been categorized to 11 measures (3 measures in financial areas, 3 measures in customer satisfaction and market area, 2 measures in internal processes and 3 measures in innovation and improvement) and next the importance of each measure regarding its relevant area has been determined by questionnaires and consulting expertise and the use of Concept Mapping and SPSS, Lisrel and Concept System softwares. The primary model with maximum 320 scores has been designed for specified private insurance companies, so that the performance of private insurance companies can be evaluated and compared based on their goals and strategies considering this model.
