Effect of sink capacity charges on yield and yield components of two sunflower hybrids

In order to evaluate effect of sink capacity charges on yield and yield components, an experiment was conducted in three replications. Into factorial with two sunflower hybrids (Azargol and Alstar) and four seed elimination (without elimination, one third of anthodium lateral seeds, one third of anthodium middle seeds and one third of anthodium central seeds) were used on the basis of randomized complete blocks with 3 replications. Seed elimination was done after full pollination. Results showed that the yields were 5393 and 4266 kg per hectare in Azargol and Alstar, respectively and there were significant differences between two hybrids in all characters, except the 1000 kernel weight and seed thickness. In three seed elimination, increased elimination/control ratio were found in 1000 kernel weight, kernel/testa ratio, blank seed percentage, seed dimensions, and remobilization, but kernel/grain ratio was decreased. Seed elimination led to increasing 1000 kernel weight. 1000 kernel weight in control was 75.43 grams and in one third of anthodium lateral seeds, one third of anthodium middle seeds and one third of anthodium central seed were 81.37, 78.83 and 78.21 grams, respectively. Azargol and Alstar showed 3.9 % and 6.9 % increase in 1000 kernel weight respectively, which showed that source limitation, was excised in these hybrids and has higher source limitation in Alstar than Azargol.
