Effect of substitution of soybean oil with Rapeseed oil on performance and blood parameters of broilers chicken

This experiment was conducted to assess the effect of substitution of soybean oil (SBO) with rapeseed oil (RSO) on performance and blood parameters of broilers chicken. A number of 300 one-day-old Ross broilers was randomly grouped into five treatments with four replications. The treatment consisted of A (control group = 100% SBO), B (75% SBO+25% RSO), C (50% SBO+50% RSO), D (75% SBO+25% RSO), E (100% RSO) during all period. A significant (p<0.05) difference was observed in weight gain among the treatments during starter and grower periods. The highest weight gain was observed in 100% SBO treatment, and the lowest was obtained in 50% SBO+50% RSO treatment during starter period. The highest weight gain was observed in 100% SBO treatment and the lowest was obtained in 75% SBO+25% RSO treatment for grower period. There was no significant difference in weight gain in finisher and total period among the treatments. The feed intake during starter and grower periods was significantly (p<0.05) different among the treatments. The highest feed intake in starter period was observed in 100% SBO treatment and the lowest feed intake was observed in 50% SBO+50% RSO treatment. The highest feed intake in grower period was obtained in 100% SBO treatment and the lowest feed intake was obtained in 75% SB+25% RSO treatment. There was no significant difference in feed intake in finisher and total period among treatments. No significant difference was observed in feed conversion ratio and production index among different treatments. The percentages of abdominal fat, breast weight, femur weight, liver weight and pancreas weight among the treatments were not significant but heart weight percentage among the treatments were significantly different (p<0.05). The highest heart weight was observed in 50% SBO+50% RSO treatment and the lowest heart weight was obtained in 100% SBO treatment. Serum parameters including total cholesterol, total triglycerides, high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL), were not significantly different among the treatments.
