It is obvious that Goethe, the celebrated German poet, has been inspired by Hafiz, and so for numerous articles have been published in this regard. Here the significant point to deal with is the influence of other great Persian poets on Goethe.
Adam Olearius, an envoy of Schleswig-Holsteinʹs court to Safavid court in Estefan, translated Golistan of Saʹdi more than a century before Hammer PurgstaHʹs translation of Diwan of Hafiz. Oleariusʹ translation influenced not only Goethe but also many other German poets and authors. Such impressions have sometime, like Hafizʹs lyric poems, influenced the poetic imagery of Goethe, and sometime a German poet uses Saʹdiʹs writings exactly.
The aim of the present article is to remind some of the characteristics used in Goetheʹs works as well as significance of German translation of Saʹdiʹs Golistan.
