Rivalry between Regional Powers in the Caucasus and Itʹs Implications in the Regional Security

Among various centers of rivalry between USA and Russia, southern Caucasia onjoys the greatest importance. After the Cold War, USA in the line with her policy at seeking influence in the post-Soviet independnt republics where Russia regards as the near abroad or backyard, Washington has paid a special attention to the region. Such attempts has worried Russia and made her to employ utmost effort to preserve the balance of power in the region. Putinʹs Russia has improved gradually her position in all the levels domestically, regionally or internationally, more than ever. Russia is worry about the installation of antiballistic missiles defens system in Eastern Europe (Poland and Czech Republic) by the USA and has shown more resistance than before. Lately rivalry between these two powers has reached to such a stage that has encouraged journalists to speak about it, as a new cold war. In such Circumstances Caucasia being an important center of rivalry between two powers endures more systemic pressures and upheavals. In the following essay we will study in detail the process and outcome of the rivalry between the two powers which could be called ((Great Game)).
