Assessment of Rheocasting of Al-356/l-SiC Particle Composite

In this study, optimum parameters were gathered for production of A1 356/1 -SiCp composites by Rheocasting method and production processes were designed. Composites with 5,15 and 30% reinforcement were cast with due attention to these processes. Microstructure of produced samples that were representative of production process was analyzed. A scanning electron microscope was used for evaluation of reinforcement shape and a laser particle sizer was used for studying the particle size and their distribution. With due attention to accomplished image analysis and obtained elemental peaks by EDS analysis, it was clear that Reinforcement entrance and their distributions into matrix are suitable. These results approve the proper design of production processes.
